Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 4, 2026

Summary

  • Private by default: Your highlights and library data are stored locally on your device.
  • No account required: You can use Sourdough Forge without creating an account.
  • Minimal analytics: We use Mixpanel for basic usage analytics (see section 5).
  • Website measurement: We use Vercel Analytics, Speed Insights, and privacy-minimized App Store click events.
  • Purchases: Subscriptions are handled by Apple In-App Purchase via RevenueCat.
  • Exports are user-initiated: Data leaves your device only when you choose to export or share.
  • Contact messages: Information submitted through the website contact form is processed by Resend and delivered to us by email.
  • Android waitlist: If you join it, we store the details you submit and coarse language/country information.

1. Information Stored on Your Device

Sourdough Forge stores the following locally (on-device):

  • Sourdough starters (names, feeding schedules, hydration levels)
  • Recipes and baking instructions
  • Journal entries and baking notes
  • App settings and preferences

2. Recipe Import

When you choose to import a recipe from a website or selected photos, the recipe URL, page content, or images required for the import may be processed to create a structured recipe in the app. Imports are initiated by you. Review imported ingredients, quantities, timings, and instructions before starting a bake.

3. Export / Share (User-Initiated)

When you export or share content, Sourdough Forge uses iOS sharing/export tools and sends data only to the destination you choose (e.g., Files, Notes, etc.). We do not control those destinations.

4. Purchases and Subscription Data

Sourdough Forge offers subscriptions via Apple In-App Purchase. To manage entitlements and subscription status, we use RevenueCat.

RevenueCat may process:

  • Purchase receipts and subscription status
  • Device-related identifiers necessary for purchase validation (as provided by Apple/RevenueCat)

We do not receive your full payment details. Payments are handled by Apple.

5. App Analytics

Sourdough Forge uses Mixpanel for basic usage analytics to help us understand how the app is being used and improve the user experience.

We collect:

  • Screen views (e.g., which screens users visit)
  • Feature usage events (e.g., starting a bake, feeding a starter)
  • Subscription events (e.g., paywall views, subscription starts)

This data is used solely to improve the app and is not sold or shared for commercial purposes. We do not track users across other apps or websites.

6. Website Analytics and App Store Clicks

The website uses Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand aggregate visits and page performance. Vercel processes the technical request data needed to operate those services under its own privacy terms.

When you select a Sourdough Forge App Store link, we record the button placement, page path, site language, broad device category, destination URL, and time of the click. This lets us compare which pages help visitors reach the App Store. We do not persist your IP address or full user-agent string with this event.

An IP address may be processed temporarily in server memory to limit abusive request volumes. It is not written to the click or waitlist database for this purpose.

7. Website Forms and Android Waitlist

The contact form processes your name, email address, message, and selected site language through Resend so that we can receive and answer your request.

If you join the Android waitlist, we store your email address, optional first name, browser language, coarse country code derived from that language, and signup time. We use those details only to manage the waitlist and communicate about Android availability.

8. Data Sharing

Sourdough Forge does not sell your personal data.

We may share limited data with third parties only:

  • To process subscriptions (RevenueCat + Apple In-App Purchase)
  • To process recipe imports that you initiate from a URL or selected photos
  • To deliver website contact form messages (Resend)
  • For analytics purposes (Mixpanel)
  • To measure aggregate website use and performance (Vercel)
  • If required by law

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Because Sourdough Forge is local-first, your starters, recipes, and journal entries remain on your device until you delete them, delete the app, or reset your device.

Contact form messages are retained in our email inbox only as long as needed to respond, provide support, and maintain necessary business records.

App Store click events are retained for no longer than 13 months for aggregate product analytics. Android waitlist records are retained until the waitlist purpose ends, you ask us to remove your record, or applicable record-keeping obligations require a longer period.

You can delete:

  • Individual starters, recipes, or journal entries in the app
  • All app data by deleting the app (iOS)
  • Your waitlist record or personal contact information by emailing the address below

10. Security

Sourdough Forge takes reasonable steps to protect your data. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. Exports and shares are controlled by you and depend on the destination you select.

11. Children's Privacy

Sourdough Forge is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

12. International Users

Your data is stored on your device. If you use network features (recipe imports, subscriptions), limited data may be processed by third-party services or website infrastructure in other countries.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" above will be updated accordingly. Significant changes may be communicated within the app.
